17 December 2021
Project No. 21-6681

4.1. SANBORN FIRE INSURANCE MAPS

Sanborn Fire Insurance maps were developed in the late 1800s and early 1900s for use
as an assessment tool for fire insurance rates in urbanized areas but are now utilized as
a valuable source of historical and environmental risk information. EDR owns the largest
collection of Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps. AGI requested EDR to provide any Sanborn
Fire Insurance Maps that might cover the subject property. However, Sanborn Fire
Insurance Map coverage is not available for the subject property (Appendix C).

4.2. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS

AGI reviewed aerial photographs of the subject property and surrounding area provided
by EDR for the years 1937, 1940, 1957, 1963, 1968, 1975, 1982, 1993, 2006, 2009, 2012,
and 2016 (Appendix C). The following is a summary of our review of the aerial
photographs:

Year(s) Subject Property Surrounding Area
1937, 1940 The subject property is developed with the
current main structures including the single-
family dwelling, barn, storage sheds, and shop
buildings. A stream is visible in the northern
portion of Parcel 1. Large trees are present
throughout the property.
Appears largely agricultural. Agricultural lots
are visible to the immediate north, undeveloped
lots are visible to the east and south. Single-
family dwelling and barns are present on the
west adjacent property. Roads are visible in the
existing location of South Union Road and East
Veritas Road.

1957, 1963,
1968
Large trees have been removed from Parcel 1
and orchards are now visible occupying most of
Parcel 2. The remainder of the subject property
appears unchanged from the previous photo.
Mostly unchanged from the previous photo.

1975, 1982 All of Parcel 2 is now covered by orchards;
Parcel 1 is unchanged.
The fire station located on the northwest
adjacent property is developed. The remainder
of the adjacent properties appear unchanged
from the previous photo.

1993, 2006,
2009, 2012,
2016
The subject property appears unchanged from
the previous photo.
The tree groves on the east adjacent property
have been removed. The lot is now a dirt lot.
The remainder of the adjacent properties
appear unchanged from the previous photo.

In summary, review of historical aerial photographs revealed no obvious features, such
as bulk petroleum tank farms or gasoline service stations, on the subject property or
adjacent properties that are of significant environmental concern.
