ERTS Emergency Response and Training Solutions
Regulatory Notifications:
On September 9, 2021 at 0123 ET, pursuant to California Code of Regulations, Title 13, Division
2, Chapter 6, Article 3, Section 1166; Health and Safety Code §25507, ERTS notified the
California Emergency Management Agency (EMA) of the release. Tim received the call and
issued reference number 21-4895. At 0129 ET, ERTS then attempted to notify the San Joaquin
CUPA of the release but there was no answer. A voicemail was left with details of the release.
Corrective Action:
On September 9, 2021, Ancon Services, Inc. personnel arrived onsite and reported a 5' by 5' area
of the concrete dock had been impacted by approximately 3 gallons of Hydrochloric Acid due to
improper loading. The impacted area was neutralized with sodium bicarbonate. The contractor
then collected and containerized the neutralized Hydrochloric Acid, the five (5) 1 — gallon
damaged bottles of product and debris into three (3) 55 — gallon poly drums. Ancon Services, Inc.
personnel staged the waste onsite at the terminal's hazardous materials waste by, and then
departed the site. Photos from the response provided by the contractor are attached in Appendix
2.
Waste Disposal:
The waste generated from this event will be disposed of by FedEx Ground's contracted hazardous
waste vendor. For additional information, please contact FedEx Ground.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
The release has been completely remediated and no evidence was found that suggests any
significant environmental impact remains on the site. ERTS suggests that this project be closed,
and no further remedial action be taken.
ERTS and FedEx Ground appreciate your assistance in this matter. If you have any questions
regarding this project, please do not hesitate to contact me at (440) 708-4001.
Respectfully,
R vv.
Rachel Kish
Project Manager
Emergency Response and Training Solutions
ERTS
11231 Phillips Industrial Blvd. Bldg. 1, Ste 300 • Jacksonville, FL 32256 • USA
phone number: 440.349.2700 I fax number: 440.349.6713
ertsonline.com
