Training shall be conducted by a Competent Person <br /> and shall include : <br /> 1 . Inspection <br /> 2 . Donning and doffing <br /> 3 . Proper fit . The harness should fit like a nicely made jacket. The straps , especially the <br /> leg straps , should be tight enough such that only two or three fingers can be inserted <br /> between the webbing and the worker's body. <br /> 4 . The D- ring shall be positioned in the center of the worker's back, between the <br /> shoulder blades . <br /> 5. Cleaning and storage per the manufacturer's instructions . <br /> Connectors <br /> Connectors include snap hooks , carabineers , Self Retracting Lanyards (SRL's) , and other <br /> collect devices that allow the worker to connect their body wear to the anchor point. <br /> 1 . D - rings and snap hooks must have a minimum tensile strength of 5 , 000 pounds . <br /> 2. Snap hooks must be sized to be compatible with the member to which they are <br /> connected to for the prevention of rollout. <br /> 3. Only locking type snap hooks shall be used . Must also require two actions to open . <br /> PFAS Requirements <br /> 1 . Full body harnesses will be used at all times for Fall Arrest Systems . <br /> 2 . Limit maximum arresting force on a worker to 1 , 800 lbs . when using a body harness . <br /> 3 . Rigged so a worker can neither free fall more than 4 feet, nor contact any lower level . <br /> Deceleration devices used shall not exceed 3 . 5 feet. <br /> 4 . Dee-rings and snap hooks must have a minimum tensile strength of 5 , 000 lbs . <br /> 5 . Snap hooks must be sized to be compatible with the member to which they are <br /> connected to for the prevention of rollout. Only locking type snap hooks shall be used . <br /> 6. Horizontal lifelines shall be designed , installed , and used under the supervision of a <br /> qualified person as part of a complete personal fall arrest system maintaining asafety <br /> factor of at least two . <br /> 7 .
