WESTERN PUMP <br /> Petroleum & Lubrication Equipment Specialists <br /> Section 10 <br /> Heat Illness Prevention Plan <br /> Policy <br /> It is a policy that any employee participating in job tasks when environmental risk factors for <br /> heat illness are present will comply with the procedures in this section of the Code of Safe <br /> Work Practices . <br /> Procedure <br /> The following basic requirements apply to all employees while working where the <br /> environmental risk factors for heat illness are present. <br /> Supervisory personnel shall identify employees for each shift which may be required to work <br /> where environmental factors for heat illness are present. The supervisors should make sure <br /> that these employees know the symptoms of heat illness and will directly report to a <br /> supervisor immediately if any such symptoms arise . A daily reminder would be a good <br /> practice during times of extreme heat. <br /> Training shall be provided for all those potentially impacted employees working where risk <br /> conditions of heat illness are present. Training information shall include but not be limited to <br /> the topics listed in the training section of this written plan . All potentially impacted employees <br /> and supervisors who supervise these employees must be trained on the risks and prevention <br /> of heat illness . This would include how to recognize symptoms and respond appropriately <br /> when they appear. <br /> The employer shall establish , implement and maintain an effective heat illness prevention <br /> plan . The plan shall be in writing in both English and the language understood by the majority <br /> of the employees .
