WESTERN PUMP <br /> Petroleum & Lubrication Equipment Specialists <br /> injury and illness prevention program required by section 3203 , and shall , at minimum , <br /> contain : <br /> • Procedures for the provision of water and access to shade . <br /> • The high heat procedures . <br /> • Emergency response procedures . <br /> • Acclimatization methods and procedures . <br /> Work Practices <br /> Sufficient Amounts of Drinking Water <br /> • Drinking water in the quantity of 1 quart per hour shall be available at all times for each <br /> employee for the duration of the entire shift while working outdoors in the heat. <br /> • Supervisors shall remind employees to drink frequently and this topic will be addressed at <br /> tailgate meetings . <br /> • Supervisor/designated person will monitor water containers every 30 minutes , and <br /> employees are encouraged to report to supervisor/designated person low levels or dirty <br /> water. <br /> • All water containers will be placed as close as possible to workers . <br /> • When drinking water levels within the container drop below 50 % , the water shall be <br /> replenished immediately; or water levels should not fall below the point that will allow for <br /> adequate water during the time necessary to replenish it . <br /> • Disposable , single use drinking cups will be provided to employees . <br /> • Noise making devices , such as air horns may be used to remind employee's to take their <br /> water break. <br /> • Water must be "fresh , pure , and suitably cool" and located as close as practicable to <br /> where employees are working , with exceptions when employers can demonstrate <br /> infeasibility. <br /> Shade and Other Coolinq Measures <br /> • Employees shall have access to a shaded area to take their breaks , and to recover from <br /> heat illness symptoms if they appear. Shade is adequate only when it completely <br /> blocks the direct sunlight and allows the body to cool.
