The employer is responsible for <br /> employee owned PPE . <br /> PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) TRAINING and RE- TRAINING — <br /> Employees expected to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be trained as <br /> follows : <br /> • Exposures and how to identify them <br /> • Types of PPE to wear as protection from each exposure <br /> • When to wear them <br /> • How to wear PPE properly <br /> • How to care for, clean and properly store PPE . <br /> • Training must be documented <br /> • re-training on the use of PPE shall be required as needed or if there is a reason <br /> to believe employees have not fully comprehended the original training . <br /> PPE Use : <br /> Head Protection <br /> Approved hard hats must be worn if employees could be struck by falling objects , <br /> are in danger of striking their heads on fixed objects , or there is a shock hazard from <br /> working near exposed electrical conductors . <br /> Do not drill holes in the hard hat for ventilation ; it destroys the integrity to protect you <br /> from blows to the head . <br /> Hard hats shall comply with ANSI Z89 . 1 -1986 , Class A or B .
