1 EXHIBIT D <br /> 2 <br /> 3I, Interim Remedial Measure <br /> 4 Remedial Action Plan/Closure Plan. <br /> I <br /> 5 ; MARLEY COOLING TOWER COMPANY <br /> 6I <br /> 7 The existing surface impoundment shall be closed under { <br /> 8 requirements of the Toxics Pits Cleanup Act (TPCA) by June 30, <br /> 9 1988 . The interim remedial measures shall be performed, <br /> I <br /> 10 subject to approval by the Department, as follows: <br /> 11 1 . Cease all discharges to the surface impoundment by <br /> 12 March 15 , 1988 . <br /> 13 2 . Remove the fluids from the surface impoundment, <br /> 14 1 process the fluids through the treatment plant and <br /> 15 discharge the treated fluids in accordance with the <br /> 16 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System ' <br /> 17 (NPDES) permit or dispose at an authorized disposal <br /> 18 site, as appropriate. <br /> 19 3 . Characterize the sludge on the surface impoundment <br /> 20 bottom and interior berms and then, depending on the <br /> 21 results of such characterization, remove all sludge <br /> 22 -and dispose of that which is hazardous waste. <br /> 23 4 . Perform soil and sediment sampling in accordance <br /> 24 with the procedures described in the EPA document, <br /> 25 SW-846, "Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste <br /> 26 Physical/ Chemical Methods, " using continuous <br /> 27 coring methods to characterize the contamination <br /> D-1 <br /> COURT PAPER <br /> l?ATM 0/CAL1/OMNIA <br /> l.TD. 113 (RKV. 9.72) <br /> 116 N7e9 <br />
