1 under and adjacent to the surface impoundment.
2 Sampling scheme to include a minimum of:
31 (a) One boring on the top of each of the four
4 berms with analysis performed on samples
5 taken at 2 foot intervals starting at the
6I surface. This sequence shall continue to a
7 depth of 10 feet below the land surface and
8 then every 5 feet until groundwater is
9 encountered.
10 (b) On the interior slope of the berms, sampling
11 shall be performed along an axis 1
i
12 approximately at the midpoint of the length
I
13 of the berm and perpendicular to the slope of
14 the berm. Sample points shall be distributed
15 along the slope of the berm every 5 feet with
16 the first point taken at the high water mark,
17 and the last point taken at the toe of the
18 slope. Samples shall be recovered from the
19 sediments (if any) , at the surface of the
20 soil, and at depths of 1, 2, 3, and 4 feet
21 into the berm. Respondent may propose to
22 archive a portion of the samples for
23 subsequent analysis.
24 (c) The pond bottom sampling shall be performed
25 by sampling four points, each approximately
26 at the center of a quadrant formed by
27 bisecting the interior length and width of
D-2
COURT PAPER
STATN 0/CALIFORNIASTD. 113 111[V. 8-711
85 34769
