Vo
TO: Labor Camo Owners/Operators
FROM: San Joaquin Local Health District
Envirommnental Health Division
DATE: November 15, 1958
RE: Standards For Labor Camps -- Federal and -State
The. San Joaquin Local Health District Division of
Environmental Health and the U.S. Department of Labor Wage
and Hour Division both inspect labor camps in San Joaquin
County. The standards enforced by the Health District are
State of California Standards and differ slightly from the -
Fedral- Standards.
At this time there does not appear to be any movement at the
State or Federal level to unify these standards which has
caused problems for a number of labor camp owners/operators.
In order for us at the local level to address and resolve
this confusion , the Health District will, identify the federal
regulations on our inspectional reports. This action
will hopefuly eliminate the confusion experienced by the
labor camp owners/operators.
The following is a partial list of the federal and state
standards which have caused the most concern .
I . Space for Storage of Clothes and Personal Effects
Fedc-_-ral_ Standard J22 Code of Federal 5Legulation
654.407. f
No facilities or inadequate arrangement for hanging
clothes and storing personal effects for each person or
family.
Stade Standards
None.
2.
