Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
Two septic systems are currently located on the Site; both serve the existing house
(Plate 3).
Proposed Septic System
No new septic construction is proposed at this time.
On -Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department permit files were searched
for the Site address. One permit was identified. The permit, dated January 1987, was
for a septic system addition at the house. A new system with a 1,200 -gallon tank, a 40 -
foot leach line, and a 24- by 10- by 10 -foot sump was installed to serve a new
bathroom. The existing system was also depicted in the sketch. This permit has been
included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 26 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The Site is located in an agricultural area; most nearby properties are vineyards and
orchards, with scattered rural residences.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, septic systems in the area typically utilize
leach lines or leach lines with sumps. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of
this report.
Expected On -Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from residents at the existing house.
Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On -Site Wastewater
Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations. No new
construction is anticipated.
LOGE 2124 Page 2
