TABLE 1:VERNALIS WEST AND EAST PROJECT <br /> MITIGATION MONITORING PLAN <br /> Impact Mitigation Measures Monitoring Agency <br /> the(2027)Plus <br /> Project <br /> conditions. <br /> Impacts and Mitigation Measures Identified in the Initial Study <br /> I. AESTHETICS 1-1, Prior to initiation of the approved excavation, the Community Development <br /> applicant shall submit a Landscaping/Screening Department <br /> Plan, for the review and approval of the San <br /> Joaquin County Community Development <br /> Department. The Plan shall include berms that <br /> consist of overburden, which may be removed <br /> upon reclamation of the mined areas. If the berms <br /> are used for screening, the berms shall be between <br /> six and eight feet in height, and shall be <br /> landscaped with natural grasses to provide erosion <br /> control and blend in with surrounding flora. The <br /> Plan shall also Include the creation of undulating <br /> landforms along the southwestem portion of Phase <br /> A within the first year of mining to replicate the <br /> surrounding hillsides. <br /> V. CULTURAL V-2. Prior to Improvement Plan approval, the project Community Development <br /> RESOURCES. proponents shall submit plans to the Community Department <br /> Development Department for review and approval <br /> which indicate (via notation on the improvement <br /> plans) that if historic and/or cultural resources, or <br /> human remains are encountered during site <br /> grading or other site work, all such work shall be <br /> halted immediately within the area of discovery and <br /> the ApplicantlDeveloper shall immediately notify <br /> the Community Development Department of the <br /> discovery. In such case, the project proponents <br /> shall be required, at their expense, to retain the <br /> services of a qualified archaeologist for the purpose <br /> of recording, protecting, or curating the discovery <br /> as appropriate. The archaeologist shall be required <br /> to submit to the Community Development <br /> Department for review and approval a report of the <br /> findings and method of curation or protection of the <br /> resources. Further grading or site work within the <br /> area of discovery shall not be allowed until the <br /> proceeding steps have been taken. <br /> VII. HAZARDS AND VII-3. Prior to issuance of a demolition permit by the County Building Official <br /> HAZARDOUS County for any on-site structures, the project <br /> MATERIALS. proponent shall provide a site assessment, which <br /> determines whether any structures to be <br /> demolished contain asbestos and/or lead paint.
