Asked Derek Smith to contact me so that we (EHD) may return to verify that <br />the diesel spill was cleaned up adequately. <br />7:59 AM Left site. Arrived at EHD at <br />8:18 AM. <br />9:06 AM Derek Smith called to notify that a USA Dig notification was initiated. <br />Cleanup will not be completed today. <br />10:53 AM <br />Received Spill update: Amount of diesel release to soil and ballast was updated <br />from 2 gallons to 150 gallons. <br />11:01 AM Received a call from Union Pacific, 402-544-200 call center, to notify me <br />of the spill update from 2 gallons to 150 gallons. She reported that remediation will <br />go on for two days. <br />I emailed Mike Algots, mjalgots@up.com, to request remediation details. <br />11:28 AM Mike Algots called to let me know the following: Amount was estimated <br />to have been 150 gallons diesel, not 2 gallons. Site cleanup pending USA <br />clearance which will possibly be July 23, 2020. <br />Generated complaint report 5104 and notice to abate. Emailed the notice to abate <br />to Mike Algots, mjalots@up.com. Mike Algots confirmed receipt. <br />07/23/2020 Received updates from Claudia Muro about seeing the final clean up. ALANIZ <br />07/23/2020 11:15 a.m.: Received a call from Brittani Jacobsen, Arcadis, 630-945-0267, letting ALANIZ <br />me know that the cleanup was half way completed. <br />11:48 a.m.: Received a call from Derek Smith, Patriot Environmental, <br />916-347-8724, letting me know that the cleanup was % done. <br />Arrived to the site at 12:18 p.m. Met with Patriot Environmental manager Matthew <br />Musolf and Brittani. A 12x20x3 foot hole was dug. 100 yards was generated and <br />placed a quarter of a mile away from the tracks for storing. Brittani said that <br />samples were going to be taken of the cleanup area and the waste stockpile. She <br />said that the samples were going to be taken in two hours. The waste stockpile <br />was placed on Visqueen. Inspected the stockpile and did not have any concerns. <br />Left the site at 1:00 p.m. and arrived back to the EHD at 1:18 p.m. <br />2:18 p.m. Received a message from Brittani saying she was going to sample. I <br />told her that I was not able to make it due to another ER call. I asked her to email <br />me the chain of custody and the sample results. <br />07/23/2020 7:59 AM Called Derek Smith for update. He reported they were on site at the MURO <br />diesel spill area.
