He wanted to discuss the <br />necesity of making the Cal OES notification for this spill. Discussed notification <br />requirements and the hazardous properties of the spilled material from the SDS, <br />emailed Brian Cal OES notification brochure to brian.crets@yara.com asking him <br />to review and make a determination if a notification is required. Received a <br />response back from Brian indicting that although he disagreed that Cal OES <br />notification was necessary, he made one. Provided update to M. Nissim, CUPA <br />program coordinator. <br />Called Jef Tierney 262-719-3246 with the Water Board, provided spill and <br />response information. Emailed SDS for the spilled material to <br />Jeff.Tierney@Waterboards.ca.gov <br />01/12/2021 11:53 AM Received a call forwarded from the front desk. Michael Anderson <br />(Technical Project Engineer at Yara North America). Michael Anderson was <br />reporting that they had a 262-gallon spill of CN-9 fertilizer. This was due to an <br />overfilling of product into a truck. Spill remained on the property. No exposures or <br />evacuations. The CN-9 went into the storm drain then to the on-site retention <br />pond. Facility will have the site cleaned up tomorrow, Jan., 13. The contractor is to <br />be determind by Aptim Environmental and Infrastructure. <br />1:11 PM Arrived at spill site. Met with Michael Anderson (Michael Andersen's <br />phone number is 916-425-9122). Observed the equipment used to deliver the <br />CN-9 into the truck. Michael stated that the equipment had overfilled which caused <br />the spill of the CN-9 fertilizer. <br />Retention pond with vegetation. Soil was soft and damp in area of about 15 x 15 ft. <br />The shut off switch to the outlet was shut off to prevent further spilling of the liquid <br />into the drainage pond. <br />Michael stated that cleanup will include cleanup of storm drain line <br />Generated complaint and notice to abate.
