Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site (Plate 2); it serves the existing
residence.
Proposed Septic System
A new septic system will be constructed to serve the new house.
On -Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. Three septic permits were identified:
• August 1964 permit for new septic system at residence. The system utilized a
140 -foot leach line. This permit appears to refer to the adjacent house to the
east.
• March 1978 permit for addition to septic system at residence; a 70 -foot leach line
and a 33 -inch diameter by 25 -foot deep seepage pit were added to the existing
system. This permit appears to refer to the adjacent house to the east.
• April 1996 permit for new septic system at residence. The system utilized a
1,600 -gallon tank, three 40 -foot leach lines, and three 36 -inch diameter by 25 -
foot deep seepage pits. This permit refers to the subject Site.
These permits have been included in appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 29 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The area surrounding the Site primarily consists of vineyards with rural residences
along the roadways. A residential neighborhood with smaller lots is located
approximately one-half mile west-northwest of the Site. Several wineries are located in
the area as well.
LOGE 2212 Page 2
