Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System Two septic systems are currently located on the Site (Plate 2). Proposed Septic System A new septic system will be constructed for the new house. On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site addresses. Three septic permits were identified: June 1970 permit for new residential septic system. The system utilized a 1,600- gallon tank, two 100-foot leach lines, and two 33-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits (25130). March 1985 permit for septic system. A 40-foot leach line and a 33-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pit were installed (25130). July 2019 permit for new residential septic system. The system utilized a 1,600- gallon tank, three 55-foot leach lines, and three 42-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits (25118). These permits have been included in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 98 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The Site is located within an area primarily composed of large lot rural residences. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach lines with 25-foot deep seepage pits; one system utilized a 17-foot deep sump.
