<br />Former Pilkington North America Site 16 Health and Safety Plan <br /> EKI B90047.00 <br />5.5 Waste Management <br />Wastes generated will include soil and decontamination/purge wastewater. These wastes will be <br />contained in DOT‐approved drums or sealable plastic pails. Each drum or pail will be labeled as <br />to the contents, location of source, and date generated and temporarily stored in a designated <br />area on‐Site to be determined by the Client. Disposable PPE will be contained in plastic bags and <br />disposed of with municipal waste, unless gross contamination is noted (i.e. product on gloves, <br />will be placed in labeled drum). <br /> <br />5.6 Training <br />EKI personnel participating in investigation activities at the Site and all on‐Site personnel working <br />within the demarcated work area, or exclusion zone, will have completed the Hazardous Waste <br />Operations and Emergency Response 40‐Hour Health and Safety training course, and an annual <br />8‐Hour refresher training, as appropriate, in compliance with 29 CFR 1910.120 and 8 CCR 5192. <br /> <br />On‐Site tailgate meetings, conducted by the SSO or FSSO, will be held before each work day to <br />familiarize personnel with health and safety issues, protective equipment, emergency <br />information and supplies, and to discuss special topics. This training will be documented as part <br />of the daily documentation for the Site and participants in the daily meeting will sign a log <br />acknowledging their attendance (see Attachment B). <br /> <br />5.7 Medical Monitoring <br />EKI personnel participating in field activities are included in a medical monitoring program. The <br />program meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 and CCR Title 8, 5192 f(3)A. The primary <br />elements of the program are that exams are given: <br /> <br /> Prior to assignment <br /> Annually <br /> On a periodic basis as determined necessary by the examining physician <br /> At termination of employment <br /> As soon as possible following a high exposure episode, injury or illness or when an <br />employee experiences symptoms which are suspected to be attributable to a work <br />exposure. <br /> <br />Details of the medical program are included in EKI's CHSP. <br /> <br />5.8 Site Facilities <br />Restrooms are available at the Site. Personnel conducting the activities associated with this <br />project shall not use the restroom, exit the Site, or enter public buildings unless proper
