24 May 2021
Project No. 14-3002

 Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) by EPA
Method 537.1.

5.2. AOC1 - WASTE CELL DELINEATION

Soil borings B8, B9, B13 through B22 and B69 through B77 were advanced along the
eastern property boundary south of the Facility. The borings located and defined Waste
Cell No. 1 and Waste Cell No. 1A. Both waste cells are composed of glass processing
waste. Generally, the waste consisted of dry, small pieces of clear, bluish, and red glass
mixed with white-, red-, and black-colored crumbly and powdery solid residue. Limited
pieces of waste exhibited a bright orange color, and a faint burnt odor was observed in
the glass waste encountered in borings B16, B18 and B20.
 Waste Cell No. 1 is the remaining portion of the North Waste Cell (NWC) formerly
located at 17100 Murphy Parkway. The waste cell comprises an aerial extent of
approximately 3,300 square feet and was encountered between 2.5 feet and
12 feet bsg. The limits of the waste cell were defined by step-out borings B13, B15,
B17, B21 and B22 (Figures 4 through 7).
 Waste Cell No. 1A is the remaining portion of the South Waste Cell (SWC) formerly
located at 17100 Murphy Parkway. The waste cell comprises an aerial extent of
approximately 1,200 square feet and was encountered between 4.0 feet and
10 feet bsg. The limits of the waste cell were defined by borings B8, B69, B70,
B71, B73, B76 and B77 (Figures 4, 5, 8, and 9).

Waste Cell No. 1A is discontinuous from the SWC. Waste was not encountered in borings
B69, B70 and B71, advanced approximately 1.5 feet from the eastern property boundary
and within the benched/sloped area of the stormwater basin at 17100 Murphy Parkway
(Figure 8). Groundwater was encountered in borings B69, B70 and B71 between 7.5 and
8.0 feet bsg. Following advancement of the borings, AGI measured the depth to
groundwater in well MW-4, located approximately 65 feet west of boring B69. The depth
to groundwater in MW-4 was 11.05 feet bsg, indicating the surface elevation of borings
B69, B70, and B71 was 3.0 to 3.5 feet bsg (Figures 4, 5, and 8).

5.3. AOC1 – SUMMARY OF RESULTS AND EXTENTS

The following is a summary of the analytical results and extents of COC contamination in
soil and groundwater in AOC1.

5.3.1. PCB Results

A total of 14 soil and waste samples and two groundwater samples were analyzed for
PCBs in AOC1; PCB Aroclor 1254 was the only Aroclor detected in AOC1 and at the Site.
