24 May 2021
Project No. 14-3002

12 feet bsg in B31. Glass waste may have fallen out of the sample sleeve during
sampling of this boring.
Additionally, mixed soil and waste was encountered in borings B44 and B56
between 3.0 and 4.5 feet bsg and between 9.0 and 10 feet bsg, respectively. These
areas are depicted in Figures 10 through 16.

5.5. AOC2 – SUMMARY OF RESULTS AND EXTENTS

The following is a summary of the analytical results and extents of COC contamination in
soil and groundwater in AOC2.

5.5.1. PCB Results and Extents

A total of 138 soil and waste samples (15 waste samples); two concrete samples, and
three groundwater samples were analyzed for PCBs within AOC2 and just outside of
AOC2, along the perimeter of the Facility (surface samples and B78 and B79). PCB
Aroclor 1254 was the only Aroclor detected in AOC2 and at the Site. The samples were
collected from borings B30 through B36, B38, B40 and B43 through B68; surface sample
locations SS-1 through SS-11; and concrete from the former gas turbine package and
heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) in the Facility.

Soil and waste samples were analyzed from various depths between surface grade and
15 feet bsg, which mostly included surface grade, three feet, five feet, seven feet and ten
feet bsg.

PCBs were detected in 15 surface samples below the RSL and in the following samples
above the RSL of 0.97 mg/kg:

Nine soil and waste samples collected from three feet bsg at concentrations
ranging from 1.2 mg/kg in B51 and B61 to 48 mg/kg in B44-3-soil/waste
(Table 1B).
Nine soil and waste samples collected from five feet bsg at concentrations ranging
from 1.1 mg/kg in B50-5-waste to 100 mg/kg in B47-5 (Table 1C).
Four soil and waste samples collected from seven feet bsg at concentrations
ranging from 1.1 mg/kg in B48-7-waste to 320 mg/kg in B46-7 (Table 1D).
Two waste samples collected from ten feet bsg at concentrations of 1.1 mg/kg in
B50-10-waste and 3.0 mg/kg in B68-10-waste (Table 1E).

Analytical results of PCBs in soil and waste are summarized in Tables 1 through 1E,
depicted in plan view in Figures 10 through 15 and in cross-sectional view in
Figures 17 through 21.
