PM10 (fine particulate matter, dust) has been
designated serious nonattainment by the EPA and nonattainment by the CARB.
The Federal Clean Air Act (CAA) and the California Clean Air Act require areas
that are designated nonattainment to reduce emissions until standards are met.
As a result, the SJVUAPCD suggests that the project applicant utilize the
following feasible measures to reduce the amount of ozone precursors that will
result from this project.
• Automated control system for heating/air conditioning and energy efficiency
beyond Title 24 requirements.
• Lighting controls and energy-efficient lighting in buildings.
• Increased insulation beyond Title 24 requirements.
• Light colored roof materials to reflect heat.
David L.
