San Joaquin County
Community Development Department
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue JUN
Stockton CA 95205 Gomm 0 0 2000
ugily u
Steve and Linda Blain Nl
16134 W. Redondo Dr. va
Tracy CA 95376
(209)832-5043
June 28,2000
Community Development Department:
As residents of the Santos Ranch/Lammersville rural community we vehemently oppose the Mountain
House Development for a number of reasons.
1) Traffic......We have seen our carpool commute time from Tracy to San Ramon TRIPLE in the
last 6 years. With Patterson Pass as the only conveniently accessible on-ramp from the proposed
Mountain House Community to I-205 and I-5,we suspect traffic congestion will become even
more horrendous.
2) Taxes........We feel our tax money should be invested in revitalization of downtown Tracy,NOT
subsidizing new roads, schools and utilities. We need to invest in quality, not quantity.
3) Quality of Life.......We moved to Santos Ranch because of the quiet, rural lifestyle. With the new
development we will loose open spaces to ride our horses, irreplaceable farmland will disappear,
wildlife will be driven further away, and the stars will disappear as the night sky remains bright.
We feel this development will greatly diminish the quality of life in west Tracy.
The bottom line should not always be money and profit.
Thank you for taking our letter in consideration.
Sincerely,
Steve Blain
Linda Blain
