services. The residual water is sent to East Bay MUD in Oakland, CA (as identified by the attached waste shipping
documents).
All non-hazardous spent carbon, and thus all waste stemming from the handling of this spent carbon, is identified as
non-hazardous through a rigorous approval process used throughout our US operations to ensure we properly classify
and approve any spent carbon prior to return to our operations. This includes generator certification of the processes
generating the spent carbon, as well as analytical evaluation to ensure compliance with solid waste regulations. Any
spent carbon identified as hazardous through analysis or listing are sent directly to our hazardous waste operations in
Kentucky and Pennsylvania. This process ensures that only non-hazardous wastes are handled at our Stockton
facility. Examples of this approval process can be made available for review at your request.
With regards to the specific waste streams generated at the facility, the wastewater has been analyzed to ensure its
non-hazardous designation for disposal. The analysis is attached. Also attached is the analysis of the spent carbon
that is disposed of from the site. As previously stated, we ensure the wastewater is non-hazardous by ensuring only
non-hazardous spent carbon is allowed to be handled at the facility.
As of the beginning of this week, the facility is storing approximately 300,000 lbs. of spent carbon awaiting transport
to a reactivation facility, and approximately 3,000,000 lbs. of clean, unused carbon awaiting need at a customer site.
Attached is an SDS for the clean carbon, along with SDS's for CO2 and engine fuels used on site. There are
approximately 10 CO2 cylinders in site, as well as 2-55 gallon drums of diesel fuel and 10-15 cylinders of propane. All
vehicle maintenance is conducted by outside service, so no maintenance chemicals are stored on site.
As for the spent carbons passing through the site, I can make information available to you as you like. In the interest
of not inundating you with excess documents, I have sent just that of the spent (attached) that is disposed of from the
facility, but can absolutely provide more as you wish.
I hope this satisfies your interest in the processes and materials used at the Stockton facility. As for the reactivation
process we used elsewhere or any other questions you have, I would be happy to answer through email or a
conference call.
