MOORE & TABER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
CONSULTING ENGINEERS AND GEOLOGISTS
-2-
There is no implication that three borings on a site this size
can be construed as representing either the range of conditions
or the most critical conditions at the site. They can , however ,
provide (limited) basis for feasibility and preliminary economic
evaluations.
The site is planar, sloping gently west (+4-5 ft drop
per 3700-ft) . The surface is presently vacant and had recently
been cultivated to +12 inches depth. Current/previous use
is agricultural and was likely subjected to surficial soils
redistribution by land-levelling.
No evidence of pre-existing surface or subsurface
structures or fill was observed although their presence cannot
be precluded.
Exploration and Testing
Information on subsurface materials and conditions
was obtained from each of the requested three sampled test
borings to depth 16-22 ft. "Undisturbed" samples were recovered
from the borings by means of 2 . 0-inch OD "standard penetration"
(ASTM D 1586) and 2. 5-inch ID "thin-wall" samplers advanced
with standard 350 ft-lb striking force to provide a field
