ANDERSON
ASSISTANT COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR
COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN
COURTHOUSE, ROOM 707
222 EAST WEBER AVENUE
STOCKTON. CALIFORNIA 95202
'AREA 209' 944-2611
October 12, 1978
Mrs. Joann Krein
11500 South Austin Road
Manteca, CA 95336
Dear Mrs. Krein:
LETTER OF COMPLAINT - FORWARD, INC.
The Board of Supervisors has asked that this office investi-
gate the complaints stated in your letter of July. 4, 1978.
As a result, we have'reviewed the matter with the County
Planning Department, the San Joaquin Local Health District,
and the California Highway Patrol.
Referring to your complaints in the order that they appear
in your letter, we offer the following:
1. You have stated that Forward, Inc. is burning at
night, usually after 9 or 10 p.m.
Ile have been advised by both the County Planning
Department and the Local Health District (the
Solid Waste Local Enforcement Agency), that the
Use Permit issued to Forward, Inc. does not permit
voluntary burning of refuse.
The Local Health District advises us that it re-
cently responded to a complaint of a fire at the
Forward, Inc. site. The employees of the land-
fill were burning insulation off of wire. This
has been brought to the attention of Forward, Inc.
and they have ceased burning.
In the future, if at any time you see a fire on
what appears to be the Forward, Inc. site, it is
our recommendation that you call your local fire
department (Manteca -Lathrop Fire District - phone:
982-5282). The response by the fire department can
then be documented and the location of the fire
pinpointed. You should also notify the Local
Health District (phone: 466-6781).
