Any inmates who, because of a mental condition, appears to be a danger to <br /> himsel0herselfor others or ifhelshe appears gravely disabled shall be considered to <br /> be a mentally disordered inmate__ Such an inmate shall be transported to the San <br /> Joaquin County Jail as soon as is reasonably possibbc for examination by a <br /> Psychiatric Social Worker. It in the opinion of the an-esting officer, the inmate <br /> should be transported to the San Joaquin County Crisis Center, the inmate may be <br /> transported there in lieu of the County Jail. <br /> H, Administrative Segregation <br /> 1. Whose inmates who are determined to be prone to escape, prone to assault staff <br /> or other inmates, or likely to need protection from other bumtes shall be transported <br /> to the San Joaquin County Jail as soon as is reasonably practical. Pending <br /> transportation to the County Jail, such inmates should be segregated from the <br /> general population if possible. <br /> I. Use of Detoxification Cell <br /> 1. Cell Number"I", the padded cell, may be used forth-- holding of inmates who <br /> are a threat to their own safety or the safety of others due to their state of <br /> intoxication_ <br /> 2. Such inmates shall be removed from the detoxification cell when they are able to <br /> continue with the processing. <br /> 3. Intermittent direct visual supervision of inmates held in the detoxification cell <br /> shall be conducted no less than every one-half(112) firs. <br /> 4. The times of the above jail checks shall be noted on the Watch Commanders <br /> Daily Log. <br /> 5. No inmate shall remain in a detoxification cell for more than six(b) hours <br /> without a recorded observation. <br /> J Access to the Courts and Counsel <br /> 1. The Watch Commander shall insure the right of inmates to havea'[.:C&ss to the <br /> courts and to legal counsel, Such access shall consist of confidential consultation <br /> with attorneys when requested by the attorney or the inmate. The interview room <br /> may be used for attorneyfmrante consultations. <br /> K, Medical., Dental, and Mental Health Services <br /> 1. Those inmates requiring emergency health care services shall be immediately <br /> transported to a medical care facility by ambulance. If the inmate is eligible for <br /> citation release, the inmate shall be released on a citation so he/she can seek medical <br /> attention on his or her own. <br />
