Manteca Police Department <br /> Manteca PD Policy Manual <br /> Temporary Custody of Adults <br /> (e) Smoke/heat detectors do not appear damaged <br /> 900.5.12 FIRE PROCEDURES <br /> In the event of a fire in the Temporary Holding Facility, the discovering employee should <br /> immediately: <br /> (a) Notify the Fire Department, Watch Commander and on-duty patrol personnel immediately <br /> through the Communications Center. <br /> (b) Initiate movement of all prisoners to an area of safety through the utilization of the evacuation <br /> plan. <br /> (c) Begin fire suppression procedures as applicable. <br /> Responding patrol officers, under the direction of the Watch Commander, should be responsible <br /> for: <br /> (a) The evacuation of prisoners. <br /> (b) Obtaining medical services as needed. <br /> (c) Securing prisoners in a temporary holding area. <br /> (d) Arranging transportation of prisoners to the County Jail or other temporary location as <br /> necessary. <br /> (e) Initiating an investigation concerning the origin of the fire along with filing necessary reports. <br /> 900.6 EVACUATION OF TEMPORARY HOLDING FACILITY <br /> If an evacuation of the Temporary Holding Facility becomes necessary, the following should be <br /> considered: <br /> (a) Primary concerns to be addressed: <br /> 1. Safety of the prisoners <br /> 2. Safety of the departmental personnel <br /> 3. Safety of the public <br /> 4. Security of the prisoners <br /> (b) Notifications to be made: <br /> 1. Watch Commander <br /> 2. All available sworn personnel <br /> 3. Fire and medical personnel as needed <br /> 4. Services Division Commander <br /> 900.6.1 EMERGENCY EVACUATION <br /> In times of fire, or other emergency or disaster situations, it may become necessary to evacuate <br /> inmates from the Temporary Holding Facility. When time permits, all prisoners will be restrained, <br /> as deemed necessary by the officer conducting the evacuation.
