GENERAL ORDER NO. 089 64 <br /> PAGE 3 <br /> he/she appears gravely disabled shall be considered <br /> to be a mentally disordered inmate . Such an inmate <br /> shall be transported to the San Joaquin County Jail <br /> as soon as is reasonably possible for examination by <br /> a psychiatric social worker . If in the opinion of <br /> the arresting officer, the inmate should be <br /> transported to the San Joaquin County Crisis Center, <br /> the inmate may be transported there in lieu of the <br /> county jail . <br /> 8 . Administrative Segregation . <br /> a . Those inmates who are determined to be prone to <br /> escape, prone to assault staff or other inmates, or <br /> likely to need protection from other inmates shall <br /> be transported to the San Joaquin County Jail as <br /> soon as is reasonably practical . Pending <br /> transportation to the county jail, such inmates <br /> should be segregated from the general population if <br /> possible . <br /> 9 . Use of Detoxification Cell <br /> a . Cell Number 1, the padded cell may be used for the <br /> holding of inmates who are a threat to their own <br /> safety or the safety of others due to their state of <br /> intoxication. <br /> b . Such inmates shall be removed from the <br /> detoxification cell when they are able to continue <br /> with the processing . <br /> C. Intermittent direct visual supervision of inmates <br /> held in the detoxification cell shall be conducted <br /> no less than every half hour . <br /> d . The times of the above jail checks shall be noted on <br /> the Watch Commander ' s Daily. <br /> d . No inmate shall remain in a detoxification cell for <br /> more than six hours without a recorded observation <br /> by a medical staff person . <br /> 10 . Access to the Courts and Counsel <br /> a . The Watch Commander shall insure the right of <br /> inmates to have access to the courts and to legal <br /> counsel . Such access shall consist of confidential <br /> consultation with attorneys when requested by the <br /> attorney or the inmate . The interview room may be <br /> used for attorney/inmate consultations . <br /> 11 . Medical, Dental, and Mental Health Services . <br />
