Manteca Police Department <br /> Policy Manual <br /> Temporary Holding Facility <br /> (c) Cell keys are available in the Watch Commander's office and the Communications <br /> Center for emergency use <br /> (d) First aid kits are readily available and completely stocked <br /> (e) Smoke detectors are operational <br /> The Facility Supervisor or his/her designee shall inspect the facility on a monthly basis. The <br /> results of the monthly inspection shall be documented in writing. The inspection record shall <br /> be retained for two years (Title 15, California Code of Regulations § 1032). <br /> 900.5.1 FIRE PROCEDURES <br /> (a) In the event of a fire in the detention area the discovering employee should <br /> immediately: <br /> 1. Notify the Fire Department, Watch Commander and on-duty patrol personnel <br /> simultaneously through the Communications Center <br /> 2. Initiate movement of all prisoners to an area of safety through the utilization of <br /> the evacuation plan. <br /> 3. Begin fire suppression procedures as applicable. <br /> (b) Responding patrol officers under the direction of the Temporary Holding Facility <br /> Supervisor should be responsible for: <br /> 1. The evacuation of prisoners. <br /> 2. Obtaining medical services as needed. <br /> 3. Securing prisoners in a temporary holding area. <br /> 4. Arranging transportation of prisoners to the County Jail or other Temporary <br /> Holding Facility as necessary. . <br /> 5. Initiating an investigation concerning the origin of the fire along with filing <br /> necessary reports. <br /> (c) The Facility Manager, in coordination with the Fire Department and qualified first <br /> aid/CPR instructional personnel,shall oversee the training of all department personnel <br /> and ensure that they are familiar with: <br /> 1. The Temporary Holding Facility policy and procedures; and <br /> 2. Fire safety and evacuation plan including the use of the fire extinguisher. <br /> (d) The Fire Marshal should make annual inspections of the Temporary Holding Facility. <br /> 900.6 EVACUATION OF TEMPORARY HOLDING FACILITY <br /> If an evacuation of the Temporary Holding Facility becomes necessary,the following should <br /> be considered: <br /> 900.6.1 PRIMARY CONCERNS <br /> (a) Safety of public <br /> (b) Safety of department personnel <br /> (c) Safety of prisoners <br /> (d) Security of prisoners <br /> Temporary Holding Facility-414 <br /> Adopted: 2012/04/01©1995-2012 Lexipol,LLC <br />
