' s Austin Road Class II-1 site on March 4,
1982. That report found the site operations to be in sub-
stantial compliance with the requirement of the law and
permits.
The public was given an opportunity to comment on that
report on May 6, 1982. Due to outside factors, only a
portion of testimony could be heard, and the remainder was
scheduled for May 13, 1982.
At the presentation made on May 6, 1982 several things
became very apparent.
First, the State Department of Health Services, the
Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the Local Health
District all indicated that the site was in substantial
compliance with the requirements of the law and the permits.
Secondly, in spite of that indication, it became apparent
that the Farm Bureau Federation did not accept either the
March 4 report or the testimony of the State and local
officials, and continued to make serious allegations with
respect to the operation of the site.
Thirdly, it has become apparent to us and our clients
that, due to the extremely technical nature of the questions,
and the serious concerns expressed by both sides, it will
be very difficult to achieve any lasting resolution of this
matter by mere further oral presentations to you.
