Phillippe <br /> Senior Engineer <br /> Subject: Site Inspection Report of May 3, 1982: <br /> Required Response <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> A copy of the subject staff report was received in our office on <br /> May 5, 1982. following a review of that report , we scheduled a meeting <br /> with staff of your Board and representatives from ttie 1lazardcus materials <br /> Management Section of the Department of Health Sery i cc s and the State <br /> Water Resources Control Board. At that meeting, your staff report was <br /> discussed in detail and hopefully, several of the issues were resolved. <br /> This letter contains our response to the items listed under "Inspection <br /> Summary10 and "Recommendations to Discharge". The numbers adjacent to <br /> our responses are referenced to the numbers used in the subject staff report. <br /> Inspection Summar <br /> 1. Our request for authorization to receive drilling muds and <br /> brines from your Board was accompanied by several "typical <br /> analyses" of drilling muds. A review of .that request and <br /> subsequent authorization by your staff was not accompanied <br /> by revised monitoring requirements with respect to analytical <br /> work on drilling muds and brine. At our meeting , we agreed <br /> to collect one sample: of the liquid waste from the drilling <br /> mud ponds each quarter. This sample will be subjected to <br /> analysis for the components contained in our routine groundwater <br /> monitoring program.
