jW
California Department of Health Services
January 17 , 1983
Page Two
Apparently Forward, Inc. did some private coring on their
own recently, but Regional Water Quality Control Board found out
about it and obtained an oral report on the results. Regional
Water Quality Control Board staff met with Jack McCullough and
Greg Basso on December 15. Enclosed is a copy of Memorandum
dated 29 December 1982 from three Regional Water Quality Control
Board staff members to William S. Johnson, showing the background
chlorides to be 60 to 300 ppm.
The enclosed Regional Water Quality Control Board staff
memorandum states that the oral report by Forward, Inc. disclosed
the following:
Maximum Chloride under pond liners 1111 ppm
Maximum chloride under pond levees 1650 ppm.
Apparently, the sides are not lined even as well as the
floors of the ponds.
Very truly yours,
KONIG & FOOR, INC.
RWK:jhw RICHARD W.
