polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs); the transformer behind the western house <br />appeared to be old. On the west side of the Site, an irrigation pump and filtration <br />system was observed. Three pole -mounted transformers, two of which were <br />labeled PCB -free, were noted nearby. <br />At the eastern house, two metal storage containers were observed south of the <br />well; Mr. Kaler indicated that these are used to store tools and small equipment. <br />South of these, two plastic tanks containing Makaze (glyphosate) herbicide were <br />observed. Nearby was a fenced storage area for empty chemical containers. <br />Near the southeast corner of the house was a small pile of debris, including an <br />old mattress. Four tires were observed to the north of the house. <br />To the east of the western house, three above -ground diesel fuel tanks were <br />observed. The tanks appeared to be 550 gallons each and were located in a <br />concrete secondary containment; no staining was noted. Five used tires were <br />observed near the tanks, and an additional four tires were observed to the <br />southwest of the house. <br />Between the two houses was a covered area for parking tractors. A mobile spray <br />tank and a mobile fuel tank were observed nearby. <br />To the north of the Site was Grant Line Road, followed by orchard, open land, <br />and rural residences. An orchard was located to the east. To the west was <br />orchard with a residence and a few agricultural buildings. An above -ground fuel <br />tank and fertilizer tank were observed near the agricultural buildings; they were at <br />least 50 feet from the Site. To the south was Von Sosten Road, followed by rural <br />residences. <br />5.0 INTERVIEWS <br />5.1 Interview with Client <br />Ranjit Kaler was interviewed by telephone on March 18, 2022. Mr. Kaler <br />indicated that he and Mr. Grewal bought the property in approximately 2014. At <br />that time, the Site was used to grow row crops. Three above -ground diesel tanks <br />are located on the Site, Mr. Kaler indicated. He stated that agricultural chemicals <br />are kept inside two metal storage containers, and mixing is done inside the <br />sprayer tank. A mechanic will occasionally repair a piece of equipment on the <br />Site, but otherwise no automotive or equipment maintenance is performed on the <br />Site, he said. <br />Mr. Kaler stated that a home and a duplex are located on the Site; he did not <br />know when they were built. A domestic well is present, and irrigation water is <br />provided by the irrigation district. Mr. Kaler indicated that the clearing visible in <br />the 2006 photo at the southwest corner of the Site was where the former owner <br />LOGE 2214 4 <br />
