be collected at each of the three proposed sample locations depicted on Figure 3. Sample locations will
be based on data collected during the utility locating and sewer inspection and confirmed with the
RWQCB. APTIM will collect grab groundwater samples near the top of the water table (anticipated to be
approximately 25 feet bgs) at each location.
APTIM will collect groundwater samples following the HydropunchT" sampling method per APTIM
Management System (AMS)-830-19-WI-03103, "Direct Push Groundwater Sampling" (APTIM 2021; see
Appendix C for all AMS documents). The basic method for direct push groundwater sample collection is
described below.
1. Decontaminate the direct push sampling rig and associated sampling equipment, in
accordance with AMS-830-19-WI-03103 before mobilizing to the first sample location.
2. The driller and rig geologist should inspect the direct push rig to verify that the equipment is
properly maintained, adequately decontaminated, and capable of achieving the objectives for
sampling equipment advancement, groundwater sample collection, and abandonment of the
boring.
3. Calibrate all field analytical and health and safety monitoring equipment according to the
instrument manufacturer's specifications and/or project work plans. Calibration results must
be recorded on the appropriate form(s) as specified by the project work plans or health and
safety plan.
4. Between each sampling location and prior to each sampling run, decontaminate the sampling
equipment according to AMS-830-19-WI-03103.
5. Using DPT advance the decontaminated push/drive rod to the target depth.
6. When groundwater is encountered (or desired depth achieved) retract the Hydropunch to
expose the screened interval and allow the groundwater to enter the sampler.
7. Measure the depth to water using an electronic water level indicator probe. Record the water
level measurement to the nearest 0.01 of an inch in the field log book. Sampling will occur
when the water level stabilizes.
8. Collect groundwater samples for selected VOCs (EPA 8260/EPA 8060-SIM [Selective Ion
Monitoring]) analyses and fill the appropriate sample containers (VOA vials).VOA vials will be
filled to the top leaving no headspace in the container. Care will be taken while filling to not
overfill and loose acid preservative.
9. Collect field quality control (QC) samples as required in the QAPP. If water recovery rates are
insufficient to collect QC samples, then record this information in the field sampling log and
collect only the primary sample.
10. Label, package, and prepare the samples for shipment to the laboratory.Transfer the samples
to a sample cooler after collection. All reasonable attempts will be made to ship samples on
the date they are collected.
FINAL RIPON PCE INVESTIGATION WORK PLAN.DOCX 4-" PROJECT NO.631021512
