Level D is the minimum acceptable level for sites. Upgrade to Modified Level D-1 or
D-2 occurs when there is a possibility that contaminated media can contact the skin or work uniform.
Upgrade to Level C occurs when the results of air monitoring reveals that air monitoring action levels
have been exceeded. Upgrade to Level B occurs when the results of air monitoring reveals action levels
have been exceeded (site personnel must have met training requirements). Workers must maintain
proficiency in the use and care of PPE that is to be worn.
Table 2
Personal Protection Equipment
Level D - Long pants with long sleeved shirt or - Hearing protection(muffs
coveralls and/or plugs).
- Steel-toed boots - Examination gloves for
- High visibility clothing or traffic vest(vest sampling
required in the vicinity of moving - Face shield/metatarsal guards
equipment or roadway traffic) for decon activities(high
- Approved safety glasses or goggles pressure washing).
- Tyvek coveralls(for particulate
2-2
