Staff understands from the report that Forward LF has
approximately 300,000cy of airspace remaining, that this airspace will be depleted in approximately two
months, and that if construction of the next WMU is delayed Forward will be forced to stop accepting
waste. Delayed construction of additional airspace is estimated to cost Forward approximately 5 to 7.5
million dollars in lost revenue.
Staff concurs with the report, that requiring a liner performance appraisal for the new Waste
Management Unit to be constructed this spring will be unreasonably burdensome to your company.
However,Forward should be aware that liner performance appraisals will likely be required for any
future Waste Management Units.
If you have any questions, please call me at(916) 255-3814.
•3
ROSS D.ATKINSON
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Mr. Robert McClellon, San Joaquin County LEA, Stockton
Mr. Gino Yekta, CIMWB, Sacramento.
Mr. Butch Stafani, Forward Landfill Operations Manager, Stockton.
Ms. Sangeeta Lewis,Lewis Engineering, Piedmont.
Mr. Curt Fuji, Forward Inc.
RDA;C:\mydocuments\FORWARD\LinerFinBurden
California Environmental Protection Agency
Q1 Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
