PES Environmental , Inc .
evaluation , a second 14iter SUMMA canister will be placed within the shroud and used to
collect a shroud air sample concurrent with each sub - slab vapor sample . The shroud air
sample will be analyzed for the tracer gas only to quantitatively assess representative leak
check compound concentrations in the shroud .
A 1 -liter vapor sample SUMMA canister that is batch-certified clean by a California-certified
analytical laboratory will be utilized to collect the sub - slab vapor sample . The shroud and
sub - slab vapor sample canister will be filled until the vacuum gauge reads approximately
5 inches of mercury (Hg) or less . Field QA / QC sampling for the sub - slab vapor sampling will
consist of one true - duplicate sample ( same sample inlet , equally divided into two separate
sample canisters ) . The duplicate sample will be collected concurrent with the collection of the
primary sample .
After sampling , the SUMMA canisters will be transported to the analytical laboratory under
chain-of- custody protocol . The sub - slab vapor sample and duplicate will be analyzed by
K Prime Inc . (K Prime) , of Santa Rosa , California for Total Volatile Hydrocarbons ( C2 - C10)
by U . S . Environmental Protection Agency (U . S . EPA) Test Method TO - 3 ; and Benzene ,
Ethylene , Toluene and Xylene (BTEX) compounds by U . S . EPA Test Method TO45 . In
addition , the shroud sample will be analyzed for the propellant tracer 1 , 1 -Difluoroethane
( 1 , 1 -DFA) by U . S . EPA Test Method TO - 3 .
2 . 3 . 3 Supplemental OIHPT Investigation
2 . 3 . 3 . 1 Selection of Supplemental OIHPT Locations
Based on the results of the November 2020 LNAPL investigation' , approximately 11 locations
have been identified , shown on Plate 1 , for additional LNAPL delineation activities . The
proposed locations consist of the following : ( 1 ) three locations west of OIP44 and OIP -7
along the slough- side of the levee to establish boundary conditions and confirm the absence of
LNAPL ; (2) near MWP - 4 where elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and
BTEX compounds have been detected during previous groundwater monitoring activities ,
( 3 ) within and east of the former pipeline leak excavation to confirm the absence of LNAPL
and set boundary conditions ; (4) areas east of OIP4 (where LANPL was previously observed)
and Well No . 2 on the former boat repair facility to evaluate for the presence of LNAPL ; and
(6 ) south of the boat repair facility on the slough- side of the levee to confirm the absence of
LNAPL and establish boundary conditions .
2 . 3 . 3 . 2 OIHPT Data Collection Procedures
An Optical Image Hydraulic Profile Tool ( OIHPT) developed by Cascade Remediation
Services ( Cascade ) will be utilized for LNAPL delineation activities . Cascade possesses a
valid C - 57 water well contractor ' s license issued by the State of California in accordance with
California Department of Water Resource Water Well Standards (Bulletin 74 - 90) .
9 PES , 2020 .
