PES Environmental , Inc .
The investigation will be conducted under the supervision of a California - registered geologist
or engineer . A PES field geologist or engineer will observe probe advancement .
OIHPT technology is capable of both hydraulic profiling and ultra-violet induced fluorescence
technology ( OIP -UV) . Petroleum hydrocarbons , including gasoline , diesel fuel , and heavier
oils , exhibit measurable florescence identifying the presence of NAPL expressed as pore - space
percent saturation .
While it is anticipated that the OIHPT investigation will be conducted in accordance with the
proposed locations , in the event that LNAPL is identified at a particular location with no prior
OIHPT or monitoring well data to bound its extent , supplemental probes may be installed as
needed to define the spatial extent of the free -phase hydrocarbons . The exact locations of these
supplemental probes will be determined real -time in the field during the investigation .
To reduce the potential for cross -contamination between sampling locations , downhole drilling
equipment and sampling probes will be thoroughly cleaned prior to initiating work and between
sampling locations . The probes will be washed in a dilute Alconox ( or equivalent) solution ,
rinsed with potable water , and final rinsed with distilled water between each sampling location .
Direct-push drilling equipment will be decontaminated as necessary with a high-pressure hot
water wash between sampling locations . Upon completion of sampling activities , each probe
location will be grouted to the surface in accordance with SJCEHD requirements .
The location of each probe location will be determined by measuring from known monitoring
well locations and/ or by using a Global Positioning System (GPS ) device with sub -meter
accuracy .
Equipment wash water and waste materials generated during this investigation will be stored in
separate 55 -gallon drums and handled and disposed of in accordance with state and federal
requirements . One sample of the wash water will be collected in a laboratory - supplied
container , labeled , placed into an ice- chilled chest , and submitted to the project laboratory for
chemical analysis . Once characterized , the wash water will be transported off- site and
disposed at an appropriate facility .
3 . 0 REPORTING AND SCHEDULE
Details of investigation activities conducted in accordance with the Supplemental Investigation
Workplan and results of the same will be presented in the Revised Correction Action Plan ,
requested by the RWQCB in their February 8 , 2021 response letter"
Field activities detailed herein are scheduled to occur between March 15t' and 19 `'' , 2021 . As
discussed with the RWQCB , the Revised Correction Action Plan will be provided on or before
April 18 `'' , 2021 .
io RWQCB , 2021 .
