Paradise Point Marina 6 October 2020
San Joaquin County - 2 -
Site-Vicinity
2 -Site-Vicinity Potable Water Supply ystem
In the Response Letter, PES provides additional information regarding the potable water
conveyance in the Site vicinity as served by supply Well No. 2, located in the
neighboring parcel. According to the Response Letter, the potable water system located
at and adjacent to the Site distributes water to the neighboring marine servicing facility,
Paradise Point Marina facilities, and four residential units located immediately north of
the Site. Because the conveyance of potable water crosses the former fuel conveyance
line and suspected release areas, Central Valley Water Board staff requests that you
collect water samples from a distribution point for the Paradise Point Marina Facilites
at least one of the four nearby residences. These samples should be collected from
either a faucet or spigot associated with each of those locations and analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline range organics (TPH-GRO) and associated volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) including the fuel oxygenate methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE).
Supplemental Sub-Slab Vapor and Grab Groundwater Sampling
In the Response Letter, PES proposes additional Site investigation activities, including
collection of a single, sub-slab vapor sample and six grab-groundwater samples,
intended to supplement the Site investigation activities presented in the 16 July 2020
Work Plan. The purpose of these additional activities is to evaluate the nature and
extent of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents, along with their associated, potential risk
to human and aquatic health, in both the dissolved- and vapor-phases, beneath and in
the immediate vicinity of the Paradise Point Marina store. Central Valley Water Board
staff concurs with the additional scope of work, as presented by PES, in the Response
Letter.
The above-requested information and proposals should be submitted to the Central
Valley Water Board by no later than 18 November 2020, as part of the Site's Corrective
Action Plan required by Cleanup and Abatement Order (CAO) R5-2020-0701.
