PES Environmental , Inc .
The borehole will be advanced to approximately 18 feet below ground surface (bgs ) . The
depth is based on depth to water measurements collected from nearby MWP -4 and MWP - 9 and
will allow for collection of first encountered groundwater at these locations . Once the desired
depth is reached a 1 -inch inside diameter schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC ) well casing ,
fitted with a 15 -foot section of well screen and associated filter sock , will be lowered into the
outer casing . The drive casing will then be pulled back to separate the displacement point
from the drive casing and expose the well screen to the saturated soil .
Prior to the collection of grab groundwater samples , water in each temporary well casing will
be purged sample is visually clear and free of sediment . The grab groundwater samples will
be purged and collected using a peristaltic pump . The peristaltic pump tubing intake will be
placed at the approximate mid-point of the well screen , depending on depth to water
measurements taken prior to sampling . After purging of the temporary well , the groundwater
samples will be collected from the discharge tubing at the end of the pump into clean ,
laboratory supplied sample containers .
To reduce the potential for cross - contamination , new pump tubing will be used at each
temporary well . Additionally , downhole drilling equipment will be thoroughly cleaned prior to
initiating work and between each sampling location . Upon completion of sampling activities ,
the borehole will be grouted to the surface with neat cement grout in accordance with the
SJCEHD .
Purge water investigation- derived waste (IDW) will be temporarily stored at the Site in
secured , labeled 55 - gallon steel drums , until proper off- site management in accordance with
applicable State and Federal laws can be arranged .
Sample containers will be labeled to indicate project location , job number , boring number ,
sample number , and time and date collected . The samples will be immediately placed in a
thermally - insulated cooler containing ice .
All samples collected during the additional investigation will be submitted with
chain- of- custody documentation to the project laboratory for analysis . Groundwater samples
will be analyzed for the following constituents using U . S . EPA Test Method 8260B :
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg) ,
• BTEX ; and
• Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) , t-Butyl alcohol (TBA) and naphthalene .
2 . 3 . 2 Sub - Slab Vapor Sampling
One sub - slab vapor sample location beneath the current Paradise Point General Store footprint ,
shown on Plate 1 . The sub - slab vapor sample will be collected to evaluate potential human
health vapor intrusion concerns to the General Store .
148400101W006 . docx 3 D R A F T
