SOP-007 Standard Operating Procedure
Soil Sample Collection
Page 2 of 2 Revision No. 0 April 2019

Sharpe Army Depot
4.2 Terra Core® Sampling Procedure

Terra Core samplers will be used to acquire approximately five (5) grams of soil for each VOA vial per EPA Method 5035. Each Terra Core sampler will only be used once per sample.
Outer gloves worn by sampling personnel will be replaced between samples to avoid cross-contamination of samples.
4.3 Sample Preservation
Soil sample collection will be performed using stainless steel spades/spoons, shovels, trowels, and/or scoops (Section 4.1).
The soil samples will be transferred directly to the appropriate laboratory-prepared containers (i.e., Encore or equivalent), labeled, and placed immediately into a chilled cooler for storage and transport to an offsite laboratory under the chain of custody protocol.
Soil samples will be analyzed by method SW8270 for polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, and by method SW8081A for organochlorine pesticides. The samples will then be stored and shipped.
