Site Specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plan <br /> 16 <br /> <br />Task <br />Monitoring <br />Instrument <br />Monitoring <br />Frequency <br />Action Levels 1 Required Action <br />These action levels <br />apply to any work <br />that involves the <br />potential contact or <br />inhalation of <br />chemicals present at <br />this site (e.g., <br />drilling, excavation, <br />soil or groundwater <br />sampling, opening <br />tanks / drums, etc.) <br /> <br />FID or PID <br />Meter (11.7 <br />eV Lamp) <br />Use a FID or PID to <br />conduct exposure <br />monitoring <br />whenever product <br />odors or visible <br />sheens are present. <br />0 to 10 ppm <br />above <br />background in <br />the BZ <br />Wear Level D protection at a <br />minimum. Use chemical protective <br />gloves and other PPE as necessary <br />to prevent skin contact with <br />contaminants. Work upwind from <br />chemical sources when possible. <br />Continuously when <br />VOCs are > 10 ppm <br />in employee’s BZ <br />10 ppm or <br />greater in the BZ <br />for > 15 <br />minutes1 <br /> <br />Upgrade to Level C respiratory <br />protection or evacuate the work <br />area until BZ concentrations are < <br />10 ppm. <br /> <br />Continuously when <br />VOCs are > 10 ppm <br />in employee’s BZ <br />> 30 ppm in the <br />BZ for any <br />period of time. <br />Regardless of respirator usage, <br />stop work and evacuate work area <br />until concentrations in BZ are < 10 <br />ppm. <br />Use of fans or other engineering <br />controls may be necessary to <br />continue work. Contact HSE <br />Management for assistance. <br />FID or PID use when Benzene and/or Vinyl Chloride are expected to be a contaminant of concern. <br />These action levels <br />apply to any work <br />that involves the <br />potential contact or <br />inhalation of <br />chemicals present at <br />this site (e.g., <br />drilling, excavation, <br />soil or groundwater <br />sampling, opening <br />tanks / drums, etc.) <br /> <br />FID or PID <br />Meter (11.7 <br />eV lamp) <br />Use a FID or PID to <br />conduct exposure <br />monitoring <br />whenever product <br />odors or visible <br />sheens are present. <br />0 to 1 ppm <br />above <br />background in <br />the BZ <br />Wear Level D protection at a <br />minimum.
