Site Specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plan <br /> 17 <br /> <br />Task <br />Monitoring <br />Instrument <br />Monitoring <br />Frequency <br />Action Levels 1 Required Action <br />Continuously when <br />VOCs are > 1ppm in <br />the BZ <br />10 ppm or <br />greater in the BZ <br />for any period of <br />time <br /> <br />(based on <br />Benzene and/or <br />Vinyl Chloride as <br />potential <br />contributors) <br />Regardless of respirator usage, <br />evacuate area until concentrations <br />in BZ are < 10 ppm. <br /> <br />Action levels may be able to be <br />adjusted if Benzene and/or Vinyl <br />Chloride are ruled out as being <br />contributors to the PID readings.2 <br /> <br />Use of fans or other engineering <br />controls may be necessary. <br />Contact HSE Management for <br />assistance. <br />Conduct air <br />monitoring for <br />Benzene during <br />activities where it <br />may be a <br />contaminant of <br />concern based on <br />site history and/or <br />previous sampling <br />data. <br />Benzene <br />Colorimetric <br />Detector <br />Tube <br />Periodically (every <br />15 to 30 minutes) <br /> <br /> <br />< 0.5 ppm Acceptable, continue work. <br /> > 0.5 ppm Stop work required.
