A percolation test was completed for each of the orchards. As part of each percolation test, 10' deep
soil mantle pits did not reveal standing water at any location. As part of the Project planning and
engineering, a geotechnical investigation will be performed at the site, including borings to determine
accurate depth to groundwater. CASGEM data indicate the local groundwater gradient is southwest to
northeast.
Potential Groundwater Contamination
Currently there are no existing septic disposal systems within the development area of the proposed
parcel. However, County records indicate that adjacent properties (west) have on-site septic systems.
Historical use of the site is agriculture, though no data or records documenting these activities are
available.
Expected On -Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
No septic tanks are proposed. The proposed Project includes a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)
with tertiary treatment for unrestricted use of reclaimed wastewater. Wastewater equalization storage
is anticipated as part of the WWTP.
On -Site Wells
One well was found existing on the property, located at the southwest corner. However, since neither
the depth of the well nor perforations were known, exploration by the owner included drilling of three
(3) test holes to depths between 590' and 730' bgs. Water samples were collected at various depths in
each test hole and forwarded to a qualified laboratory for testing the water for several constituents,
including but not limited to, nitrate, total salt (TDS), arsenic, chromium, and select organic
contaminants.
Water Samples
Test results from water quality samples show local groundwater nitrate concentrations ranging between
non-detectable to as high as 3 mg/l, with average concentrations near 1 mg/I. Secondary contaminants,
including iron, manganese, and total dissolved solids, were found to exceed secondary standards in two
of the test wells, but not at every depth. Of those tested, no organic contaminants were found.
2 1 P a 2 e
