Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usaqe
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site (Plates 2 and 3).
Proposed Septic System
According to the Site Plan, the proposed main house will share the existing septic system
connected to the shop. A new septic system will be constructed for the guest house
(Plate 2).
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. One septic permit was identified. The permit, dated
December 2021, was for a new septic system at an agricultural building. A 1 ,600-gallon
tank, three 85-foot leach lines, and three 48-inch diameter by 25-foot-deep seepage pits
were installed. The permit has been included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 100 septic systems per
square mile are located in the vicinity of the Site.
The general area surrounding the Site consists of rural residential lots and vineyards.
The Lodi Airport is located approximately one-quarter mile to the south.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach
lines and seepage pits. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the future residents of the Site.
Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater
Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations.
LOGE 2245 Page 2
