The <br /> purpose is to warm - up/stretch body muscles and joints in preparation for all types of laborious <br /> work . Following ergonomic standards is proven to help identify and abate musculoskeletal <br /> disorders . Basic administrative and Engineering Controls shall be utilized to reduce the risk of <br /> injuries . For example , as an engineering control , using a forklift for moving heavy objects as a <br /> substitute for workers doing it manually . <br /> 4 . 2 . 35 DRIVING ON SITE <br /> Intentionally Left Blank <br /> 4 . 2 . 36 STRUCK- 13Y / AGAINST <br /> Proactive measures shall be taken to mitigate risk of impact hazards such as flying debris or <br /> falling objects . Impact injuries from falling objects can encompass everything from tools and <br /> materials being knocked off unprotected edges to a suspended load from a crane coming loose . <br /> All workers should avoid areas where work is being performed overhead . Such areas should be <br /> cordoned off to protect workers from being struck by falling debris or tools . The ICS <br /> Superintendent shall monitor workers to ensure they remain a safe distance away from heavy <br /> equipment . Injuries caused by swinging objects usually occur when materials are being <br /> mechanically lifted and something causes the load to sway or when a worker is inside the swing <br /> radius of a piece of heavy equipment such as an excavator . Workers should stay well outside <br /> the swing radius and verify that the heavy equipment operator can always see them . <br /> 4 . 2 . 37 SITE SECURITY <br /> The ICS Superintendent is responsible for all tools materials and equipment of a project . <br /> Controls shall be implemented to prevent losses from theft, vandalism , and damage . <br /> Construction equipment theft continues is a major concern for ICS, clients, and other business <br /> owners . Stealing construction equipment is a low- risk, high - reward opportunity for thieves, <br /> especially on unsecured construction sites . Theft of construction equipment can only be <br /> avoided when locked in secure locations such as a job trailer or closed room where <br /> 39 <br />
