<br />suspected rabies exposure, typhoid fever. For all of the diseases listed,
<br />prompt investigation may result in prevention or early discovery of addi-
<br />tional cases. During regular working hours, telephone reports may be
<br />made to the Health District at 466-67$1. On week -ends, holidays, or at

<br />In addition to your concern about accreditation requirements, reporting
<br />{or failure to report) reportable disease has medico -legal significance.
<br />Enclosed is a report on a recent appellate court decision. Section 3125,
<br />�aµ California Health and Safety Code (noted in the conclusion of the deci- r
<br />sion) reads as follows:
<br />"All physicians, nurses, clergymen, attendants, owners, pro-
<br />prietors, managers, employees, and persons living, or visiting�
<br />any sick person, in any hotel, lodginghouse, house, buildinngg,
<br />office, structure, or other place where any person is ill of;tf
<br />} any infectious, contagious, or communicable disease, shall
<br />promptly report that fact to the health officer, together withkr
<br />the name of the person, if known, the place where he is con-
<br />fined and the nature of the disease if known.
