Stericycle is already working on a solution and will soon implement it.
From: Benjamin Escotto [EH]
Sent: Monday, June 13, 20119:56 AM
To: Dennis Gorton [SJGH]
Subject: RE: Labeling of Pharmaceuticals container lids
Dear Dennis,
As discussed on the phone, containers that are used to store pharmaceutical waste are deemed pharmaceutical
waste containers. According to the Medical Waste Management Act (Health and Safety Code) Section118275
(g), such containers shall be labeled with the words "Incineration Only" on the lid and on the sides, so as to be
visible from any lateral direction. As written on the inspection report, your facility has pharmaceutical waste
containers that have the label "Incineration Only" on the sides but not on the lids. We are asking that this issue be
corrected.
If you have any further questions you can email me at bescotto(a-)sicehd.com or call me at (209) 468-3178.
Ben Escotto
REHS
From: Dennis Gorton [SJGH]
Sent: Friday, June 10, 2011 11:30 AM
To: Benjamin Escotto [EH]
Cc: Susan Ramirez [SJGH]; Richard Aldred [SJGH]
Subject: Labeling of Pharmaceuticals container lids
Thanks for letting me know of the County's decision to require labeling on the lids of the pharmaceutical
containers. When you send me an email stating your decision, I can start working with Stericycle to
resolve the issue. I appreciate your time.
6/13/2011
