(ATLAS), on behalf of J&L Market, has
Permitting prepared this Soil Assessment Workplan (Workplan), dated December 30, 2022.
This Workplan was prepared in response to a letter from the Central Valley
Spill Prevention,
Countermeasures Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) dated November 21 2022.
and Control In this letter a workplan to investigate a possible release of diesel fuel from the
Environmental aboveground storage tank(AST) secondary containment was requested.
Health and Safety
Specialists Boring and Sample Collection
Feasibility and To assess the potential presence of diesel fuel in shallow soil in the vicinity of
Risk Analysis the AST, the advancement of three soil borings is proposed. The proposed soil
Hazardous waste borings (B-1, B2, and B3) will be advanced using direct-push sampling methods.
Management and The soil borings will be advanced to depths of approximately 10 feet below
Monitoring ground surface (bgs). Soil samples will be collected in acetate liners at depths of
5 and 10 feet bgs from each boring. At each sampling interval two sub-cores, as
part of EPA 5035 sampling collection methodology, will be driven into soil from
the acetate liner to retain samples for chemical analyses.
Each of the soil samples will be field screened using an organic vapor analyzer
(OVA) and visually classified, with the information recorded on a boring log by
ATLAS' on-site personnel. Specific details of the field drilling methods,
sampling equipment, and procedures are presented in Appendix A. All field work
and sample collection activities will be performed under the direct
5122 Bolsa Avenue, Suite 107• Huntington Beach,CA 92649 • (P) 714.890.7129 • (F) 714.890.7149
www.atiasenvironmental.com • License Number A729641
