Inspect for good repair, cleanliness, tight fitting rids . <br /> and proper signs, including all medical waste storage areas. Next check supplies for <br /> adequate amounts of biohazardous bags on hand. <br /> 0 Medical waste is separated from other waste at point of origin. <br /> 0 Cleaning is to be by weekly scheduling, at time of emptying containers,, and when <br /> soiling or spills occur. <br /> 0 Medical waste is collected at the site of origin and placed in red biohazardous bags. <br /> These bags meet the 165 gram•dart impact specifications and are certilied by the <br /> manufacturer. <br /> * The red biohazardous bags are maintained inside rigid containers with tight fitting rids <br /> and are labeled on the fid and sides with the international biohazard symbol and the <br /> word"Biohazardor"biohazardous waste"with no symbol required. <br /> * The red biohazardous bags are bed to prevent leakage before storage in assigned <br /> areas. <br /> 0 Rigid medical waste containers of various colors, are leak resistant and have tight <br /> fitting lids. <br /> 0 Containers are labeled on rids and sides with the international biohazard symbol and <br /> the word "Biohazard".or"biohazardous waste with no symbol required. <br /> 0 Labels are florescent red or orange unless storage container is red. <br /> 0 Containers are located on treatment carts and maintained in the Medical Waste <br /> storage areas. <br /> Sharps Containers: <br /> 0 Sharp waste are placed in rigid containers, puncture-resistant on sides and bottom- <br /> s Containers have tight fitting lids which are leak resistant when sealed. <br /> * Sharp containers are labeled with the international biohazard symbol and the word <br /> "Biohazard", or"sharp waste"with no symbol required. <br /> Containment Procedures: <br /> Assigned staff separate medical waste and sharp waste from other waste. Medical <br /> waste is placed in red biohazardous bags at place of origin, and transferred into rigid <br /> Wohazardous containers .
