(Medical preparations made from living <br /> organisms and their products, including but not tinfded to, serums, vaccines. <br /> antigens,and antitoxins). <br /> Biohazardous waste. <br /> • Sharps waste (Any device having acute rigid comers, edges, or protuberances <br /> capable of cutting or piercing the skin including, but not limited to, needles, blades <br /> broken glass,and lancets contaminated with biohazardous waste. <br /> "Medical Waste"does not include the following: <br /> • Waste containing microbiological cultures used in food processing and any <br /> containers or devices used in the preparation and handling of these cultures." <br /> • Urine, feces, saliva, sputum, nasal secretions. sweat, tears, and vomitus, unless <br /> they contain fluid blood, except as defined in section 25020.5 (t) which pertains to <br /> Biosafety Level 4*on highly communicable diseases. <br /> • Waste which is not biohazardous, such as paper towels, paper products, articles <br /> containing nonfluid blood,and other solid waste commonly found in factTities. <br /> "Mixed Waste " means mixtures of medical and nonmedical waste.
