• "Common Storage Area"means any designated transfer station ich is ontite and <br /> is used by small generators for the storage of medical waste for collection by a <br /> registered hauler_These designed areas must comply as follows: <br /> -Storage areas must be secure so as to deny access to unauthorized persons. <br /> -Storage areas must be marked.with warning signs on or adjacent to exterior of door, <br /> gates or lids. <br /> -Signs shall be in Engfish and Spanish and-shall read: " Caudon-Btohazardous Waste <br /> Storage area Unauthorized Persons Keep Out." Must be legible from at least 25 feet. <br /> -Storage areas must provide protection from animals,vermin and natural elements. <br /> - Compactors or grinders shall not be used to process medical waste until after the <br /> waste has been treated and rendered non-infectious. <br /> -Trash chutes cannot be used to transport medical waste- <br /> -Proper ventilation must be controlled to prevent odor. <br /> "Container" means a rigid container in which medical waste is placed prior to <br /> transporting for the purposes of storage and treatment and separated from other <br /> waste. <br /> - Containers shall be leak resistant. have a tight fitting cover, and be kept clean and in <br /> good repair. <br /> -Containers must be labeled with the words"I iohazardous Waste on the top and sides. <br /> -Containers can be any color. <br /> • "Biohazardous " means a disposable red bag labeled with the words <br /> "Biohazardous Waste" which is impervious to moisture and has a strength <br /> constructed ted of sufficient single thickness strength to pass the 165 gram dropped <br /> dart impact resistant test and certified by the bag manufacturer. <br /> • Sharp Waste is placed into a sharp container, tape dosed or tightly !id and label <br /> sharp container"Sharp Container". <br /> • "Sharps Container" means a rigid puncture resistant container which when sealed is <br /> leak resistant and cannot be opened without great difficulty. <br /> • "Contain or Store Limitations" pertains to the following: <br /> -A person generating 20 or more pounds of medical waste per month shall not contain <br /> or store biohazarious or sharp waste above 0 Centigrade (32 Fahrenheit) for more <br /> than 7 days, unless the enforcement agency approves the storage in writing. <br /> 312 <br />
